About Mix It Bake It

Hi, I’m Rose, the baker behind Mix It Bake It.

I started this site while trying to understand why dough and baking results changed so much from one bake to the next.

A recipe can be the same, but the dough can feel completely different depending on temperature, fermentation, mixing, hydration, or even the mixer used.

The more I baked, the more I realized that much of the home baking advice is too vague to be helpful.

“Proof until ready.”
“Knead until smooth.”
“The dough should feel right.”

But beginners need clearer signals than that.

So Mix It Bake It focuses on observable baking: how dough behaves, how structure changes, how equipment performs, and what those changes mean during the process.

I’m not a professional bakery instructor or artisan showpiece baker.

I’m a deeply curious home baker obsessed with understanding the process clearly and turning that understanding into practical, usable explanations for other home bakers.

Most of the content here comes from testing, observation, troubleshooting, and trying to answer the same questions many home bakers run into:

Why did the dough suddenly soften?
Why did this loaf spread?
Why did one mixer struggle while another handled the dough well?

Because baking gets easier once the process starts making sense.
